Overview

Reality is not random. Seven hermetic principles describe how mind, matter, and meaning actually move.

These ideas trace back to Hermes Trismegistus, a legendary figure blending Greek and Egyptian wisdom traditions. The Three Initiates rendered them for a modern reader without stripping their depth.

All is Mind. The rest follows.

Each principle operates at every scale, from thought to cosmos, from personal mood to civilizational rhythm. None stands alone; they interlock.

  • Why polarity is not contradiction but a spectrum with a direction
  • How rhythm can be used rather than simply endured
  • Why cause and effect extend further than most people trace them
  • How gender as a principle applies to ideas, not just biology

How to read what follows

Each concept unpacks one principle clearly, then connects it to practice. Scan for orientation, return at study depth to work with the ideas deliberately.

What is inside

The Hermetic Foundation

  1. 01The Kybalion and the Hermetic TraditionTrace any genuine esoteric teaching far enough and it leads back to the same Hermetic source, regardless of the religion or culture that preserved it.Free, in full
  2. 02The Principle of Mentalism: All Is MindAccept the Mentalism premise as a literal claim about substance, not as a metaphor for mindset, before applying any other Hermetic principle.
  3. 03The Principle of Correspondence: As Above, So BelowWhen you understand any one level of reality deeply, use its governing law as a precise map for every other level.
  4. 04The Principle of Vibration: Nothing RestsRecognize every condition, mental or physical, as a vibratory rate on a single continuous scale, not a fixed fact.

The Laws of Polarity and Rhythm

  1. 05The Principle of Polarity: Opposites Are Identical in NatureName the pole-line before attempting any mental transmutation; working the wrong axis produces no change.
  2. 06The Principle of Rhythm: The Pendulum SwingRecognize that every peak already contains its compensating valley; the measure of one arc sets the measure of the other.
  3. 07The Principle of Cause and Effect: Chance Is a MaskTreat every outcome as caused, never random, and then trace the chain back as far as your perception reaches.
  4. 08The Principle of Gender: Creation Through DualityRecognise Gender as a universal creative polarity, not a biological category: projection and reception must both be present for anything new to arise.

Applying the Hermetic Art

  1. 09Mental Transmutation: Changing Inner StatesIdentify the unwanted mental vibration by name, then fix your attention fully on its opposite pole rather than wrestling with the state itself.
  2. 10The Planes of Correspondence in PracticeWhen any situation baffles you at the physical level, seek its cause on the mental or spiritual plane above it; the same law is operating there.
  3. 11Mastering Rhythm Through NeutralizationRecognize any shift in mood or circumstance as Rhythm in motion, not as fate or personal failing.
  4. 12The Hermetic Master: Living the PrinciplesWhen a difficulty arises, identify its plane and apply the principle one level higher, never fight it on its own terms.
